Loose 10 lbs & save $1200

One of my New Year’s resolutions was…

…to drink less Starbucks coffee.

There were two reasons why I chose this to be my goal this year. Calories and money. I love the place, coffee and that darn pumpkin loaf. Kids love their cookies and cake-pops but it was getting out of control.

Here is what I saved in calories:

Caramel macchiato = 190 calories for tall – 250 for grande. On average I would get 4 drinks per week = 880 calories. Sometimes I would get a tall, sometimes grande and from time to time a venti – depending on my stress level that day ha-ha. 😣 However, by going down to only 1 drink per week, I cut my calories by 660. This is helping my other resolution to loose 10lbs! If 1 lb = 3500 calories, then in 5 weeks I will loose 1 lb by just kicking back my Starbucks addiction. Not ideal but I will take it! I know you are probably saying, ‘well get the low fat drinks’ and my answer is ‘no thanks’. If I am going to treat myself to something I love, it better be exactly as I like it and as it was intended to be. 😋

Here is what I saved in terms of $:

Caramel macchiato = $4.25 for a tall – $5.40 for a grande, and cake pops are $1.95 each. In a typical week, I would spend $25-30 at Starbucks. By cutting that down to 1 visit per week, I saved over $20. Total for January = a little over $100!

At this rate and I hope it stays like this, I can save $1000-1200 this year on Starbucks alone. Plus loose 10lbs for good!

Food for thought 😉

What is your resolution this year? How are you doing so far?
