All of your kids are in school full time and you are a SAHM! Now what?

Hello my fellow moms.

Do you ever find yourself at home with your kids but hiding in the bathroom or pantry just so you can have a snack in peace? It’s okay, you are not alone! Do you ever stay up late at night after everyone is sleeping to finish chores or to catch your breath? Or wake up super early just to enjoy the only few minutes of peace you may have today? That is okay too.

Do you wonder when does it all end? How much longer am I going to be pulled in so many directions? How many more years of this madness and chaos? That is OK too! I sure did! But in a blink of an eye, here I am: home alone, kids are at school, husband is at work and it’s just me, myself and an empty house. At least for the next 6 hours…and that is OK too!

I am content. I am excited for this new chapter of my life. I know my kids are in a great school. They are having a blast and learning so much every single day. So much more than I could ever teach them at home. But now it’s my time. Time for me to start new plans. New adventures. Pick up old hobbies or go back to school. But whatever I decide to do, first things first. REST!

I will take it day by day. I will try to get back all of my years of sleepless nights. I will buy the expensive wrinkle cream because let’s be honest, I can’t erase this face or my age! So bring it on Cindy Crawford and your melon miracles.

I will go out for a cup of coffee and I will savor the time alone and just be me.

I will shop in peace. I will have time to rearrange and decorate my house. Sorry honey – this may involve some new furniture.

I may even start painting because that is what I always wanted to do.

It will take some time. Days, weeks and maybe even months for me to figure out my new schedule. My new responsibilities and wants/ needs. But in the meantime, I will really slow down and enjoy the process. I will have time to research new careers and how to enhance my blog and social media presence. I will have time to call friends that I haven’t spoken to in years. I will have time to face-time with my cousins and family in Europe.

As fabulous as it sounds, no, I do not plan on spending each and every day like this. But I do plan on taking time for myself. Well deserved time off, recharging and reinventing myself. Whatever that may be.

So for all of you new moms or moms just counting down the days until you have more time for yourself; it will be here before you know it. You will definitely be able to catch your breath, sleep 8 hours straight and even enjoy that coffee in peace. But you will never get your babies back. You will never get those sweet snuggles, piggy back rides, and millions of kisses back. So take it all in, even when it’s hard. Soak it all up, even when it seems impossible. Because time is not our friend and it will pass so fast.

For all of you moms wondering what now? Join me. Let’s be lazy. Let’s brunch! Let’s read and shop and sleep! Get a manicure or a massage. Go for a walk or take a girls trip! Why not?! Why do we have to have it all figured out? Why shouldn’t we just take time to ourselves? I say – do it! What is stopping you now? Go for it.

You have given it your all, your heart and soul mama and you will continue to do so but for now enjoy it! I sure plan to 🥂

I e never been a SAHM but even as a working mama, it does get a little easier as they get older and more independent. But it is so damn bittersweet! I do cheers your journey to reinvent yourself . It sounds wonderful!! I love it when women have the confidence to keep evolving, learning and taking the tome to find themselves❤️

This also goes for SAH dads as well. Either way, it is not easy. I’ve worked full time and been a sahm and looking back now, I don’t know how working parents have time for anything. It’s a sacrifice that I only hope children will understand and appreciate one day.
