Perfect Mashed Potatoes – my moms recipe

This recipe has been passed down for generations. It is the only way I make mashed potatoes and the only way my kids will eat them. Let’s start getting ready for Thanksgiving 🍗

Enjoy.

Ingredients:

  • 5lbs of golden yellow potatoes
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 4 tbs of butter
  • pinch of pepper
  • 1/2 tbs of vegeta or salt
  • 4 tbs of sour cream

Directions:

Bring a pot of water to a boil.

Peel and cube the potatoes.

Add the potatoes to the boiling water and cook until fork tender, about 15 minutes; drain.

Return to pot and add butter [it will melt from the hot potatoes and pot], sour cream, milk, vegeta or salt and pepper to taste.

Using a masher, mix until smooth and creamy. Serve with chicken, beef, fish or on its own. If you like it more rustic, you can leave the skin on.

Bon appetite.

I would love to see more family recipes. I absolutely love tried and true family recipes ( for Ben to make of course 😜)

      1. I love your honesty! I’ll try to share more family friendly recipes, especially for the winter!

  2. Sounds like my mom’s recipe. But you got a little typo there. It’s pretty funny. Must still have your hoo-haa post on your mind because you keep calling it “VAGeta” LOL 🙂

    1. Hahahhaa I’ll have to check that OMG thanks lady!

    2. It’s actually spelled correctly 😉

      1. It links to a product spelled V-E-Geta. The blog post has it spelled V-A-Geta all through it. So unless there’s another product out there spelled the vag way, then it doesn’t appear to be spelled correctly unless you’re seeing something I’m not. I’m intrigued, lol

      2. You are correct! I didn’t even notice the a/e 🤣 ty!

      3. LOL! I was like….what am I not seeing here? Well, at least you were consistent and spelled them all the same! haha

      4. 😂😂😂😂😂

  3. […] Which is how I mastered most of my cooking skills. And The Food Network of course! 🙂 Check out my moms mashed potato recipe too. It’s […]
