International Women’s Day #IWD2019

Good morning.

January and February are truly the longest months of the year! The ever changing weather disasters we are experiencing all throughout the country definitely do not help. I am beyond ready for spring.

But March is here and the first thing that comes to my mind is International Women’s Day.

“International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8 every year. It is a focal point in the movement for women’s rights. After the Socialist Party of America organised a Women’s Day on February 28, 1909 in New York, the 1910 International Socialist Woman’s Conference suggested a Women’s Day be held annually.”

But this date isn’t only celebrated in United States. This is an International holiday. A holiday I remember celebrating as a kid growing up in Bosnia. We did not have Mother’s day and instead celebrated all women on March 8th!

This year the campaign theme for International Women’s Day 2019 is #BalanceForBetter
“A balanced world is a better world. How can you help forge a more gender-balanced world? Celebrate women’s achievement. Raise awareness against bias. Take action for equality.”

What will you do to take action and accelerate equality?

Go on and STRIKE THE #BalanceforBetter POSE and post your #IWD2019 photo all over social media. Motivate and inspire others! Do whatever you can to truly make a difference for women everywhere. It starts with us!
