Perfect Mashed Potatoes – my moms recipe

This recipe has been passed down for generations. It is the only way I make mashed potatoes and the only way my kids will eat them. Let’s start getting ready for Thanksgiving πŸ—

Ingredients:

  • 5lbs of golden yellow potatoes
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 4 tbs of butter
  • pinch of pepper
  • 1/2 tbs ofΒ vegetaΒ or salt
  • 4 tbs of sour cream

Directions:

Bring a pot of water to a boil.

Peel and cube the potatoes.

Add the potatoes to the boiling water and cook until fork tender, about 15 minutes; drain.

Return to pot and add butter [it will melt from the hot potatoes and pot], sour cream, milk, vegeta or salt and pepper to taste.

Using a masher, mix until smooth and creamy. Serve with chicken, beef, fish or on its own. If you like it more rustic, you can leave the skin on.
