One Jar - Pickled Banana Peppers

Pickling is an easy and convenient way to preserve the vibrant flavors of fresh produce. The process of pickling red onions and banana peppers, among other vegetables, offers a delicious array of flavors to enhance a variety of dishes. Whether you are a seasoned pickling enthusiast or new to the concept, experimenting with different ingredients and flavors can be fun and delicious.

One of the best parts of pickling is the ability to tailor recipes to suit individual preferences. For example, if you prefer to enjoy pickled banana peppers in small quantities and without the long-term commitment of multiple jars, putting together a quick, one jar recipe can be the perfect solution. This allows you to savor the tangy, zesty goodness of pickled veggies at your convenience, without the need for extensive preparation or storage space.

Here is a delicious One Jar Pickled Banana Peppers recipe that you can easily prepare at home.

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz mason jar
  • 2-3 medium to large banana peppers
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 white distilled vinegar
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 tbsp black peppercorns
  • 3-4 garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • pinch red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions:

  1. Wash your jar with really hot water and set aside.
  2. Slice your banana peppers (no tops) and add to the jar.
  3. In a sauce pan, add all of your vinegar, water and spices and bring to a boil.
  4. Pour your hot liquid over the banana peppers and close the lid.
  5. Let it cool off completely before putting in the fridge.
  6. Ready as soon as it's cold but better to wait until next day.

These tangy and slightly spicy pickled banana peppers are perfect for adding a burst of flavor to salads, sandwiches, and antipasto platters. The combination of vinegar, sugar, and spices creates an amazing brine that preserves the crispness of the peppers while infusing them with a zesty kick. Whether you are a fan of tangy flavors or simply enjoy the vibrant color and crunch of pickled peppers, this recipe is sure to become a staple in your kitchen. Plus, it's a fantastic way to preserve an abundance of banana peppers from your garden or the local market, ensuring that you can enjoy their delightful taste throughout the week - or year, if you prefer to make multiple jars of it.

Enjoy and until next time, check out my other recipes here.
