2018 Vacation search sites

If you have been following me on social media you know we love to travel and explore new places. Even if it is a small town within driving distance of our home, we will get away any chance we get.

However, for our annual family vacations there are a handful of sites we use to compare deals, accommodations, and perks. Here is a list of our top 3 travel sites.

What we love about all of these sites is that the flights are mainly chartered. Everything is vacation based. From the time you book, to the flight, vacation, extra activities and back; everything is scheduled for you and all you have to do it relax. We have yet to encounter a cancellation, delay or some sort of mix up with transportation and/ or hotel.

Apple Vacations

Funjet Vacations

Expedia

We booked all of our vacations through one of these 3 sites. They always have the best deals and options. When one does not have the hotel that we love and/ or room options that we prefer, we try the others. They have so many destinations, so many all inclusive options, transportation, great flights and service. Their onsite representatives are always available, knowledgeable and not pushy.

Typically what we are looking for are dates that we want to travel, hotels that are all inclusive, beach access, multiple pools, double sinks in bathrooms, free wifi, room with a view, direct and early flights are preferred, and so forth. First we start by searching our dates, then we narrow down our top 3 hotels, we search all 3 of our favorite sites and compare. Some of the sites have better prices but do not have ocean view options. Other sites have ocean front view options but are only swim out rooms and cost a lot more. While another may have a great price and ocean front view but not in the part of the hotel that we would like. So sometimes we make sacrifices depending what we want and need. I love a nice room with a view but sometimes the price makes more sense to have a partial ocean view and use the extra money for an activity.

However, when we are looking for up to date/ realistic photos and detailed reviews of the hotels, these are the sites we trust.

TripAdvisor.com – this is our go-to for reviews and photographs. We use this both as a reference and to review our experiences as well.

Oyster.com – this site we strictly use for photographs. They are detailed and as is.

Instagram – you can search by the hotel directly and see what kind of photos or videos are available. Or what we like to do is search the hashtag of the particular hotel and see what real people are posting in real time.

Snapchat – you can get real live videos from the hotels you would like to visit.
