Favorite family games

In a world where technology and screen time is inevitable, sitting down and playing a game as a family is a great way to unplug. We enjoy the face to face interactions, even if someone is crying or pouting 🙈. It’s interactive, it practices teamwork and most of all it is a lot of fun!

20171214_210608103382844.jpgThere are hundreds of amazing family board games out there. I personally love the classics like Monopoly and Scrabble. But my kids have their own favorites like SpotIt and Sequence. Whatever we choose to play it is a great way to build skills like counting, logic, literacy and so much more. But most of all games promote family time.

Here is a list of some of our favorite games.

  • Award-winning game of visual perception for the whole family but recommended for ages 2-7.
  • Between any two cards there is always one and only one matching symbol. Spot it fast to win
  • Five challenging ways to play for hours of frenzied fun for 2 to 8 players.
  • Develops focus, visual perception skills, speech-language skills, and fine motor skills.

Sequence for Kids

  • Fun for ages 4-6 but we play as a family.
  • 2-4 players.
  • Ideal for learning animal vocabulary and for social interaction.
  • All about thinking and strategy. Trains memory, vocabulary and categorizing.

  • Pull out a bock without crashing the stack to win at Jenga.
  • For 2-6 players ages 4 and up.
  • It takes skill, strategy, and luck.
  • Win by being the last player to remove a block without causing the stack to crash.

Pop the pig

  • Players pop a hamburger into the pig’s mouth, then pump his head.
  • Each pump makes his belly grow, until . . . pop!
  • Kids love the suspense.
  • For 2-6 players ages 4 and up.

Hungry Hungry Hippo

  • Colored plastic marbles are dispensed into the board by each player, and the players repeatedly press the lever on their hippo in order to have it “eat” the marbles, which travel down from under the hippo into a small scoring area for each player.
  • Once all marbles have been captured, the player who has collected the most is the winner.
  • For 2-6 players ages 2 and up.

Giggle Wiggle

  • Players race to place their colored marbles from the bottom to the top!
  • Wiggle will try to drop the marbles, players must keep going.
  • For 2-4 players ages 4 and up.
