5 ways to take care of your feet

As a woman, there are so many things I dislike about myself. I am constantly nitpicking at my features and criticizing my body. And even though, I am working on being better to myself, it’s a daily struggle. A struggle that I sometimes win and sometimes loose.

One of those features that I used to be embarrassed about were my feet. I don’t have pretty, straight toes and I was once extremely self conscious about them. So much so, that I wouldn’t wear sandals. EVER. Even during extreme hot summer days.

But in my 20s, I discovered pedicures and I never looked back.

Lie.

I still don’t like the way my toes are shaped but I have learned to accept and embrace my feet as they are. They are crooked and oddly shaped but at least they are clean and well taken care off.

Obviously regular pedicures are lovely but they can get pricey. So taking care of my feet at home is the next best thing. But because I have fairly dry feet and my heels can sometimes break, I really try to take care of them regularly. Because if I don’t, they crack and bleed.

Here are 5 things that I do, between pedicures, to take care of my feet:

Foot scrub: don’t try to get fancy with this. You can make your own. 1 cup of sugar, 10 drops of tea trea, lemon or lavender essential oils. 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix it well and store in a glass container in your shower. This is great for hands and feet. Use it regularly and it really makes a big difference. If you don’t want to make one, this is a good one to try.

Foot scrubbing mat: this is new for me too but what a great way to not only clean but massage your feet.

Electronic Foot File: now this has been a game changer. I only do this once a week but it makes a big difference. It helps prep the skin by removing hard, dry, cracked particles. Ready for your next step. Easy to use, electronic and rechargeable too.

Foot oil or cream: I love castor oil but you can use a foot cream too. Anything that will absorb into the skin and not just ask as a barrier. You need the moisture to keep the skin from drying out and cracking.

Spa socks: I usually use regular cotton socks after I apply the oil and I do this nightly. But I recently found these spa socks and absolutely love them. They are fuzzy and cute but also have vitamin E and lavender in them for additional moisture and scent.

So, what do you do to take care of your feet?

  1. I believe the most ignored body part in the human is feet. Because we all take care of our face and abs that we also forget that feet’s are also a part of the human body. Glad that you talked about this!
