Let me introduce you to 3 more beautiful, wonderful and super talented ladies.
Meet Medina from Medi Makes
Medina, tell us about yourself:
My name is Medina (Medi) and I’m originally from Bosnia, now living in New York! I’m the creator of Medi Makes, a small online shop based in Ithaca! I’m mostly known for my scrunchies. I sow all sorts of unique scrunchies. Everything from Halloween to Valentine’s Day as well as seasonal scrunchies to plain colored ones, too. I also design Starbucks reusable cold cups! Every now and then I’ll design a sticker or two as well.
What made you start this awesome shop?
I remember even as a little kid, I’ve always been very crafty and creative. I remember thinking as a child just how cool it would be to sell my creations, and here I am now, fulfilling my childhood dream! I’m so thankful to have the ability to share my creativity with the world through my business.

Meet Alisa from Alisa’s Gallery
Let’s get to know Alisa.
Alisa was born in Sarajevo and was raised by her grandparents. Barely escaping the Bosnian War with her aunt, she ended up in Switzerland where she met her husband and finished a 5 year Art school degree. A mom of 3, she spends her days taking care of her home and family, making art, and running her business, Alisa’s Gallery. She is based out of Chicago, Illinois. Her original art pieces are showcased and sold at Modern Wall Art gallery in Skokie, Illinois and her canvas replicas of her art can be found on Etsy.
What made you start Alisa’s Gallery?
Art is the total and complete way of expressing oneself. I have always had a difficulty in verbally explaining myself to others throughout my life. However with my art, I feel as if I am conveying a million words and many emotions on just one canvas. I have started a new technique where I use recycled ripped up pieces of magazine paper and put them together to create a scene of the world. I also like to leave small messages of words and sentences in my art. I want to share a piece of my life with yours, so I hope you can enjoy my art at

I was lucky enough to get one of Alisa’s pieces and I must say that the photos definitely don’t do it justice. My piece, Bosanska Kafa definitely highlights ME as a person but also my home. It is a piece of my culture, my pride. Thank you Alisa for blessing me and enhancing my home with your art.
For all of my friends, I was able to get a 10% discount code: DIJANA10
Meet Melina from Scents by Emkaay
Who is Melina?
My name is Melina and I’m based out of Seattle, Washington where I have resided over the past 25 years. Originally born in Maribor, Slovenia but my family is from Kljuc/Sanski Most, Bosnia and Herzegovina. I’m a first time mom to an amazing 2 year old girl named Ema who lights up my world. I tend to lead a pretty busy lifestyle & love keeping occupied. I work full time as a Personal Injury Paralegal on top of being a full-time mama and the owner of Scents by Emkaay, a soy based candle company. All of which I couldn’t do without the wonderful support of my fiancé, Alija. I enjoy photography, outdoor recreation such as camping & hiking and of course, candle making.
What made you start, what inspires you?
My desire to start my candle business came during the time of COVID quarantine. One day I noticed that this white mirror I had hanging on my living room wall, where I typically had candles lit, was completely black on the bottom. After cleaning it, I looked at the type of candles I was buying & the various types of wax they had been made with. My concern was in with the amount of sooth that was coming from them & why. If it was changing the furniture & walls in my home – filling them with chemicals, then what exactly was it doing to our bodies over an extended period of time?
Of course, like most women, I love candles – the fragrance, the ambiance, the atmosphere they create. We all know there’s nothing like lighting a candle after a good house cleaning to provide that finalized sense of satisfaction. I didn’t want to stop buying or burning candles, I just wanted to educate myself on the various materials that go into candle making & switch to something that was safer and more natural overall.
Once I become intrigued with something, I almost get obsessive – so I did tons and tons of research and decided I was going to start making my own candles. The next day I ordered my materials from a local candle supplier and I was off – making candles, testing, and learning. I didn’t anticipate getting a place where I would sell candles, it started more as a personal hobby for myself. However, after you make so many, you start to give them away and the response I received was overwhelmingly positive. It was a way for me to manifest my creativity in something I really enjoyed.
In times of COVID & the lockdowns there was so much negativity circulating and I did not want that to overwhelm me. Instead, I channeled it into positivity and a mindset in which it was the perfect time for me to learn and start something new. Rather than complain about the situation we were all living through. Scents by Emkaay was built on a creative outlet that I can now share with others while maintaining a product that is 100% Eco-friendly and safe.
The minute I saw Emkaay advertised on Instagram, I jumped and ordered 3 candles. Not only are they super creative but they are eco friendly and holy cow, do they smell amazing. But besides all of that, I was proud to meet yet another Bosnian creator whos background story is so similar to mine.
